Who is Sonia Boyajian?

Sonia Boyajian is a Los Angeles–based artist and designer whose multidisciplinary practice spans jewelry, ceramics, sculpture, lighting, and functional objects. Working from her Hollywood studio for more than two decades, she has developed a singular visual language that merges sculptural form, material experimentation, and ornamentation, often blurring the boundaries between fine art, design, and craft.

After studying at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp and apprenticing with Belgian jeweler Pascal Masselis, Boyajian launched her sculptural jewelry collection in 2003, gaining international recognition through influential boutiques and publications including The Wall Street JournalFinancial TimesLe Monde, and Wallpaper*. Her work has also been presented in collaboration with leading figures in fashion and contemporary design.

In recent years, Boyajian’s practice has expanded further into ceramics and large-scale sculptural objects. In 2026, her work was included in California Light and Space (The 21st Century Version) at David Zwirner, curated by Helen Molesworth. She currently operates her studio and storefront on La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles, CA, designed in collaboration with Studio Shamshiri.
